What is Crave?

Crave is a complete premium entertainment offering, with HBO, SHOWTIME, Hollywood-hit movies, TV series, and originals that can’t be found anywhere else. Consumers can choose the package option – Crave or Crave + Movies + HBO – that best suits them, based on what they want to watch.

How can I subscribe to Crave?

You can subscribe to Crave directly by visiting Crave.ca/subscribe, or through your television provider. It’s also available on iOS, Android and Apple TV Gen 4. In the coming weeks Crave will be available on all partner platforms, such as Apple TV Gen 3, Xbox One, Samsung Smart TVs, and Amazon Fire TV.

A subscription to Crave or Crave + Movies + HBO will give you access on Web, iOS, Android and Apple TV Gen 4. In the coming weeks, Crave will be available on all partner platforms, such as AppleTV Gen 3, Xbox One, Samsung Smart TVs, and Amazon Fire TV.

What do I get with a subscription to Crave:

More than 11,000 hours of prestige television programming, including current and past SHOWTIME content, Crave originals, acclaimed TV series and specials, and more, streaming on the Crave app or accessible on set-top box On Demand via your television provider. 

What do I get with a subscription to Crave + Movies + HBO:

HBO, SHOWTIME, Hollywood-hit movies, Crave originals, acclaimed TV series and specials, and more. Six live channels, streaming on the Crave app or available on set-top On Demand box via your television provider.

Subscribing to Crave

How can I get Crave?

Users who have subscribed through their TV provider: Crave is available through participating television providers. By subscribing via a television provider, consumers have access to Crave on a variety of platforms including traditional set-top boxes as linear channels, through the Crave app (iOS and Android), and online at Crave.ca.

Users who have subscribed through Crave.ca:  Crave is available directly to all Canadians with access to the Internet via Crave.ca. It’s also available on iOS, Android and Apple TV Gen 4 devices. In the coming weeks, Crave will be available on all partner platforms such as Apple TV Gen 3, Samsung Smart TVs, Xbox One, and Amazon Fire TV.

Why can’t I subscribe to HBO only?
Current HBO programming is only available with a subscription to Crave + Movies + HBO. This package not only delivers HBO, but thousands of hours of additional content including SHOWTIME, movies, acclaimed series, originals, and much, much more for unbeatable value.

I currently subscribe to Crave through my television provider, do I now automatically get Crave + Movies + HBO?

No. If you’re already a Crave customer, your subscription remains the same and you’ll continue to receive existing Crave programming. You will need to upgrade to the Crave + Movies + HBO package. Contact your television provider for pricing details.  

I currently subscribe to Crave directly, do I now automatically get Crave + Movies + HBO?

No. If you’re already a Crave customer, your subscription remains the same and you’ll continue to receive existing Crave programming. If you wish to access Crave + Movies + HBO, you must log-into your Crave account at Crave.ca and add Movies + HBO to your subscription.  

I was a TMN subscriber via my television provider, how does this impact my service?

TMN has been rebranded to Crave and your subscription just got better!  You will continue to get Hollywood-hit movies, HBO and SHOWTIME series, plus now you get Crave Originals like LETTERKENNY and acclaimed TV series all as part of your subscription. As a subscriber, you can access Crave On Demand and download the Crave app from the app store.

I want to keep my Crave subscription but I don’t want Crave + Movies + HBO. Do I have to get it?

No, you can continue with your current Crave subscription. Subscribing to the Crave + Movies + HBO add-on is optional. 

I have an existing pre-paid plan on Crave, how can I get Crave + Movies + HBO?

Your current pre-paid plan will continue to allow you to access all the Crave content you enjoy today. You can log-into your Crave account at Crave.ca and add Crave + Movies + HBO to your subscription. Pre-paid volume discounts will also be available for the Crave + Movies + HBO add-on.   

As a former TMN subscriber, can I still use TMN GO?

TMN GO is no longer available. As a subscriber you are required to download the Crave app from the app store on iOS or Android, and use your television provider credentials to log-in.

Can I access TMNGO.ca using my television provider log-in credentials?

No. TMN GO is no longer available. Subscribers can access content by logging into www.crave.ca with their television provider credentials.

How much does a subscription to Crave cost? 

Users who have subscribed through their TV provider: If subscribing to Crave through a television provider, prices and packages will vary.  Please contact your provider for pricing details.

Users who have subscribed through Crave.ca: If you’re subscribing to Crave directly, the cost is $9.99/month (plus applicable taxes). The Crave + Movies + HBO add-on costs an additional $9.99 (plus applicable taxes). Detailed pricing is available at Crave.ca/subscribe.

Is there a difference in price if I subscribe to Crave through a television provider or directly with Crave?

Yes. Television providers have set their own pricing for Crave. Please contact your provider for details.

Is the direct-to-consumer Crave product different from what I would get through my television provider?

No, the only difference (aside from the billing company) is that subscribing through a television provider provides viewers with the option to access the service via their television provider’s set-top box (where supported) with on demand and linear channels in addition to the Crave app and website. The content offering is the same regardless of the provider or the platform.

What’s happening to The Movie Network Encore (TMN Encore)?

Former TMN subscribers who had TMN Encore can access this content on the linear channels (which are now Encore 1 and Encore 2), on demand, or on television provider apps. As previously announced, TMN Encore is rebranding as Starz in early 2019. For a limited time, you can enjoy select Starz programming – such as COUNTERPART, VIDA, and SWEETBITTER – as part of a subscription to Crave.

My television provider doesn’t currently offer Crave or Crave + Movies + HBO. How do I get this content?

Some television providers are not supporting the new Crave product at this time. In the meantime, Crave is available directly to all Canadians with access to the Internet through iOS, Android and Apple TV Gen 4.  In the coming weeks it will be available on all partner platforms such as Apple TV Gen 3, Samsung Smart TVs, Xbox One, and Amazon Fire TV. We’re working hard to ensure all television providers across Canada offer both Crave packages.

I am trying to subscribe to Crave on my Apple TV and it isn’t available. How do I get this content?

Crave content is available on Apple TV Gen 4. In the coming weeks, the all-new Crave will be updated for Apple TV Gen 3. Direct subscription to both Crave packages, via the 4th generation Apple TV store is also available now.

I am trying to access Crave via Xbox One/Samsung Smart TV/Amazon Fire TV,   and it isn’t available. How do I get this content?

In the coming weeks the all-new Crave will be available on all partner platforms.

I am trying to access Crave on my iOS device, and can’t get Crave + Movies + HBO via In-App Purchases. How do I get this content?

If you have subscribed to either of the Crave packages via the website or your television provider, you have access to all the content on your iOS device today.

Upgrading your current Crave package to include Crave + Movies + HBO, via iTunes is now available to iOS and Apple TV (4th Generation) devices.

How does Crave being available directly-to-consumers impact my current subscription with my television provider?

There is no change to your subscription, the only impact is that TMN and its suite of channels is now Crave across all platforms, including on set top boxes and on demand. You will continue to enjoy all of the great programming that came with TMN/HBO Canada, along with the additional Crave programming you now have access to.

Is the Crave direct-to-consumer product different if I subscribe through my television provider?

No, the only difference (aside from the billing company) is that subscribing through a television provider provides viewers with the option to access the service via their television provider’s set-top box (where supported) with on demand and linear channels in addition to the Crave app. The content offering is the same regardless of the provider or the platform.

Why have you made movies and HBO available directly-to-consumers?

We are evolving the business in order to reach all Canadians.

Can I continue to use TMN GO?

TMN GO is no longer available. As a subscriber you are required to download the Crave app from the app store on iOS or Android, and use your television provider credentials to log-in.

Can I cancel my Crave subscription with my television provider and get Crave directly?

Yes. However, subscribing through a television provider offers viewers the option to access the service on demand and linear channels through their set-top box (where supported).

I have an existing monthly pre-paid plan with Crave, how can I get Crave + Movies + HBO?

Your current pre-paid plan will continue to allow you to access all the Crave content you enjoy today. You can log-into your Crave account at Crave.ca/Subscription to add the monthly Crave + Movies + HBO option to your subscription. Pre-paid volume discounts will also be available for the Crave + Movies + HBO add-on.  

I have an existing annual pre-paid plan with Crave, how can I get Crave + Movies + HBO?

Your current pre-paid plan will continue to allow you to access all the Crave content you enjoy today. You can log-into your Crave account at Crave.ca/Subscription to add the monthly or annual Crave + Movies + HBO add-on to your subscription. Pre-paid volume discounts will also be available for the Crave + Movies + HBO add-on.  

As an existing Crave subscriber, how will I be charged for the Crave + Movies + HBO add-on?

f you are an existing monthly customer, the Crave + Movies + HBO add-on will show up as a separate charge on your bill each month. If you add Crave + Movies + HBO in the middle of your billing cycle, you will be charged a pro-rated amount for the add-on until you align with your renewal date. *see below for billing cycle examples

I am an existing Crave customer on the 3 or 6 month pre-paid plan, will my plan change?

As of November 1st, the 3 and 6 months pre-paid plans are no longer offered. On your next billing cycle, you will be automatically renewed on the monthly pre-paid plan. You can always change your subscription to the Crave annual pre-paid plan.

I am on a monthly Crave pre-paid plan, can I add the annual Crave + Movies + HBO add-on?

No, you will be able to add the monthly Crave + Movies + HBO to your subscription. If you wish to purchase the annual Crave + Movies + HBO add on, you must change your monthly Crave pre-paid plan to the annual plan.

I am on the annual Crave pre-paid plan, do I have to purchase the annual  Crave + Movies + HBO add-on?

No, you can purchase the monthly or annual Crave + Movies + HBO add-on.

Can I subscribe to Crave and just get movies and HBO content?

No, movies and HBO are only available as part of a subscription to Crave + Movies + HBO.

What happens if I cancel my Crave subscription?

Crave is a pre-paid service. If you cancel your subscription during your current renewal cycle you will still have access to the service until your following renewal date. If you are subscribed to Crave + Movies + HBO, everything will be cancelled effective your next renewal date. There are no refunds possible for cancelling your subscription.

Can I cancel my Crave subscription at any time?

Crave is a pre-paid service. You can cancel your subscription at any time, but you will still have access to the service until your following renewal date.  There are no refunds possible for cancelling your subscription.

What happens if I cancel my Crave + Movies + HBO add on?

Crave is a pre-paid service. If you cancel your add-on subscription during your current renewal cycle you will still have access to Crave + Movies + HBO until your following renewal date. On your next renewal date you will only be charged for the Crave pre-paid plan.  There are no refunds possible for cancelling your subscription.

I don’t have television service, but have Internet through a participating provider. Can I subscribe to Crave?

Anyone living in Canada with an Internet connection can go to Crave.ca/subscribe to sign up for Crave and enjoy the service on all supported devices.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to Crave.ca, and into your Account Settings and select the Cancel Subscription option to cancel the service. If you do not receive an email confirming your cancellation, please contact us at 1-888-CRAVE88 (1-888-272-8388) or by email at help@crave.ca.

You will continue to enjoy Crave until the end of your billing period. If you have cancelled Crave, your credit card will no longer be charged on the next billing date.

If you signed up for Crave on your AppleTV, you will need to use iTunes to cancel your membership. If you have questions regarding iTunes billing, please visit this Apple Support page.

If you signed up for Crave through your TV service provider, please contact them for cancellation details.

Will I get a refund if I cancel my subscription?

You will always be able to enjoy your subscription until the end of your current billing period, no matter when you cancel. Crave does not provide refunds.

Am I eligible for the 1-month trial?

Everyone who subscribes for the first time to Crave directly through crave.ca/subscribe or through their iTunes account on the Apple TV is eligible to try Crave for 1 month. This 1-month trial is only available once per email address and/or credit card. The 1 month trial is available when signing up for one of the 2 prepaid subscriptions plans at crave.ca/subscribe: 1 month or 12 month plan.

If you received a promo code or gift code to enjoy Crave, you will not be eligible for the 1 month trial.

If you cancel and reactivate your subscription, you will not be eligible for the 1-month trial.

How will I be billed by Crave?

Annual Billing Cycle Examples:

If you are an existing annual Crave customer adding the Crave + Movies + HBO monthly add on, you will be charged monthly for the add-on until the end of your existing annual plan renewal where you will be prorated for the add-on charge.

Subscribing to Crave Through Your Television Service Provider

Where can I find the programming schedules for Crave’s linear channels (Crave 1, 2, 3, 4, HBO Canada 1, 2)?

How do I access Crave On Demand?

Crave On Demand is available via the set top box for participating Television Service Providers. All content is available for streaming on the Crave app at all times.

Do I have to pay extra get to get Crave On Demand

Crave On Demand is included with your subscription to Crave via participating Television Service Providers.

What is available On Demand?

All Crave content available for streaming via the app is also available On Demand unless your Television Service Provider chooses not to. For any missing content on your set top box, please contact your TV service provider.

Why are there two On Demand folders?

Crave and Crave + Movies + HBO content are available in 2 separate folders on the On Demand service on your set top boxes. Depending on your subscription level, you can access content on one or both folders.

Where can I find HBO On Demand?

HBO content is included within Crave On Demand in the HBO Category.

Why can’t I find TMNGO on the app store?

TMN GO is no longer available. As a subscriber you are required to download the Crave app from the app store on iOS or Android, and use your television provider credentials to log-in.

I currently access Crave using my TV service provider username and password, do I need to create a new Crave account?

No, if you access Crave through your TV Service provider login, you can continue to do so. Click on the tab that is titled “Through my TV Provider” after you click Sign in.

As a former TMN subscriber, I enjoyed the Download To Go feature. Is this still available to me as part of Crave:

Yes, you will still have the option to download and watch select programming without an Internet connection (you must have access to the Internet in order to download the content via the Crave app). It is currently available on iOS devices and we are working hard to make sure it’s offered on Android devices as soon as possible.

Why can’t I find TMNGO on the app store?

TMN GO is no longer available. As a subscriber you are required to download the Crave app from the app store on iOS or Android, and use your television provider credentials to log-in.

I have a Crave + Movies + HBO subscription, do I need to download a different app?

There is one Crave app for all subscribers.  To download the app, go to your device’s app store, search for Crave, and then download the app.

How To Use Crave

How do I ‘Sign In’ in the app or website?

1. Go to your device’s app store and search for the Crave app.

2. Download and install the app.

3. Open the app and click on ‘Sign In’

If you are a cable subscriber, click on ‘Through my TV Provider’

Select your cable company from the list available. If you don’t see your cable company, try clicking on the magnifying glass at the top of the window and search for your cable provider.

 

If you signed up for your Crave account through Crave.ca (formerly Crave.ca) click on ‘Directly Through Crave’

  1. Enter your account email and password and click ‘Continue’
  2. The page will refresh and you can now start enjoying Crave!
How do I find something to watch?

There are many ways to find something to watch on Crave.ca and the app.

  • Click on one of the options in the main navigation: TV Shows, Movies or On Air

  • Use the search bar at the top of the page by clicking on the magnifying glass. Search results will automatically populate below the search bar or you can hit ‘Enter’ and be taken to a full search result page with more options to choose from.

  • You can visit our HBO or Showtime sections of the site

  • Younger viewers can use our Kids section

  • We’ve curated collections of titles based on a single topic, you can see them on our Collections page

What is the On Air section?

The On Air section allows you to watch the linear live streams for Crave 1, Crave 2, Crave 3, Crave 4, HBO 1 and HBO 2 channels.  This content is available for Crave + Movies + HBO subscribers.

Can I download shows and movies and watch them offline?

Yes! The iOS and Android apps (Android available soon) allow users to download episodes and Movies and watch them offline later.

How do I Download to Go?

Visit the show page of a series or movie and look for the download icon next to the title’s thumbnail.  Click on the download icon and your title will begin to download. The download icon will change to show the progress of your download.

You can also visit the ‘My Cravings’ section and click on ‘My Downloads’ to see the progress of your downloads.

How do I delete an episode or movie I’ve downloaded?

Visit the ‘My Cravings’ section and click on ‘My Downloads’.  Click on the Edit link at the top of the page. Check off the titles you’d like to remove. Click on ‘Delete’.  This will remove the titles from your device.

How long can I keep my Download to Go titles?

Users have 15 days after a download is completed to begin watching a title offline.

Upon playback of the downloaded title, the video will expire in 48 hours.

Titles will also expire when the title expires from the service or when your subscription ends.

How many people can stream on my account at the same time?

Users are allowed to stream on two devices at the same time.

How many devices can be registered to my account?

Users can register five devices at a time on their account.  To manage devices, go to ‘Manage Account’ and select Settings and then ‘Device Management. Click ‘Edit’ to delete devices from your account and then hit ‘Apply’.

How much data does Crave use playing video?

On Crave.ca, users can control the quality of their video playback. In the video player, click on the gear icon in the bottom right corner. Users can select from a list of video playback options with 720p being the best quality available. An hour of 720p playback will use approximately 2.5GB of data.

Approximate amount of data used per bitrate:

720p – 2.5GB/hour
540p – 1.1GB/hour
360p – 800MB/hour
240p – 320MB/hour

The Crave apps use a video player with an adaptive bitrate and the apps will always auto select the highest bitrate available based on a user’s network speed.  To control your mobile data usage, go to ‘Settings’ and turn on the ‘Stream only on Wifi’ option.  This will limit playback to devices connected to a Wifi network.

What is My Cravings?

In the latest version of Crave, we’ve updated the My Cravings section of the site. My Cravings is now divided up between three things: Continue Watching, My List and Watch History.

What is Continue Watching?


This is a list of the titles you began watching but didn’t finish.  You can resume these videos where you left off.  It also adds the next title in a series to this section when you reach the last 45 seconds of a video in a series.  It can be accessed through ‘My Cravings’ and then clicking on the ‘Continue Watching’ tab.  To delete a title from this list, delete the title from your ‘Watch History’.

What is My List?

My List is a collection of the titles you have selected by clicking or tapping on the ‘+’ icon on the site.  It’s a way of saving titles you want to watch later. These titles can be removed at any time by visiting the title’s show page and clicking on the checkmark on the title’s information page.

Watch History

Watch History is list of all the titles you have watched. You can remove titles from your Watch History by selecting the ‘X’ button on the website. Or by swiping left on our mobile apps and then tapping ‘Delete’ on iOS or tap ‘X’ on Android devices.

How to Watch Crave

How can I watch Crave on my TV?

In the coming weeks, Crave customers can access the full service on Samsung SmartTVs, Apple TV Gen 3, Xbox One, Amazon Fire, and Amazon Fire TV Stick.  Google Chromecast is also available. For those who subscribe through their television service provider, Crave is available on the set-top box with select TV providers.

How can I watch Crave on my computer?

You can watch Crave from your computer at www.crave.ca.

How can I watch Crave on my mobile device or tablet?

To watch Crave from your mobile device or tablet, simply download the Crave app from either the Canadian Apple App Store or the Canadian Google Play store.

Does Crave support AirPlay and Chromecast?

Yes! Crave supports both AirPlay and Chromecast.

How do I cast content via Chromecast?

Can I play video on Crave from more than one device at a time?

Yes, members of a household can stream Crave concurrently on up to two devices, and also watch content via the set-top box at the same time.

How many devices can be linked to one Crave account?

You may have up to five devices connected to your Crave account at any time.

Can I use Crave when travelling in Canada and the U.S.?

Are programs available on Crave in HD?

Yes. Crave strives to offer users the best possible viewing experience. The video quality we deliver will depend on the content and your Internet connection and device. We'll automatically detect your connection speed and send you the highest quality stream your connection can support.

Does Crave have parental controls?

Yes, Crave has parental controls that allow you to require a PIN when viewing content rated above a particular level. You can find this in “Settings,” under “Parental Controls.” The PIN can be changed at any time, with a valid email address. The Parental Controls setting will be applicable for your account across devices and platforms that Crave is available on except Apple TV Gen 3 and set-top boxes.

Parental Controls for Apple TV Gen 3 are to be set up at the device level for all applications. Parental Controls set up via the Crave website or other apps will not apply on the Apple TV Gen 3. https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT200198

Please note that any parental controls settings on your TV provided through your service provider will not apply to the Crave apps or website.

Can I watch programs on Crave with closed-captioning?

Closed captioning is available on your set-top box, Apple TV, Web, iOS Android, Amazon Fire TV, Fire Stick and Samsung SmartTVs. This feature is coming soon for Xbox One.  We are working hard to make closed captions available on our live streams in the On Air section as well.

Can I watch programs on Crave in different languages?

Crave programming is available in English only.

Can I find out what catalogue content there is before I subscribe?

Yes! You don’t need a subscription to browse or search the full Crave catalogue. Visit www.crave.ca or download the app from the Apple App Store and GooglePlay. You can also browse the catalogue on Apple TV, on your Samsung Smart TV, on Xbox One or on your Amazon Fire TV and Fire Stick.

Where can I see ratings for programs on Crave?

Ratings for programs on Crave will appear on the program’s info page on all platforms.

For older generation Apple TVs, Crave will show up on the home screen of your device.

What Apple TV devices is Crave supported on?

Crave is supported on Apple TV 4+, OS Version of 6.0+.  Apple TV Gen 3 will be available shortly.

How do I sign in and activate Crave on my Apple TV?

1.    Launch Crave and either play any video or visit ‘Settings’ and select Sign In

3.    Sign in by choosing the method you used to sign up for Crave; either through your TV provider or on Crave.ca.

I recently upgraded my AppleTV to a newer generation. How do I activate my iTunes Crave subscription on that device?

1.    Launch the Crave application

2.    Go to the Settings page

3.    Select the “Purchase/Restore” option

4.    Select “Purchased Through iTunes? Restore” option

5.    Follow the steps to complete the Restore process

I subscribe to Crave through my AppleTV via my iTunes account. How can I access Crave on other platforms?

1.    When you subscribed, you received an email inviting you to complete your registration.

2.    When you click on the “Complete my registration” link found in that email, you will be led to the Crave site where you’ll have to set a password for your account.

3.    Once that is done, you can access Crave from all the available devices using the email that you specified for your Crave account and the new password created.

4.    If you cannot find the registration email, call us at 1-888-CRAVE88 and provide the email address you signed up with – we will send you a new email to complete your registration.

How do I update my iTunes billing information?

How do I stop being billed through iTunes and start being billed through Crave?

You will need to use iTunes to cancel iTunes billing for your Crave account and restart your membership from the subscribe page on the Crave website.

On the Xbox One, go to the “Store” page and select “Apps” from the categories on the right. If you don’t see the app in the list of suggested apps, search for Crave. Select the icon, click on “Get it FREE” and confirm to download the app.

How do I deactivate my Xbox One from Crave?

To deactivate a device from Crave either go to www.crave.ca on your computer or mobile device, OR open the Crave mobile app and go to 'Device Management' in 'Settings' and remove the device. By default your Xbox One device will be identified as 'Xbox One'.

On my Xbox One, I received a message that I do not have permission to view content. Why is this happening?

Crave respects any content restriction settings applied to an Xbox LIVE account. If you have content restrictions on your Xbox LIVE account and/or Parental Controls enabled on your Crave account the Crave Xbox app will assign the more restrictive of the two settings when you try to view movies and series.

How do I get Crave on my Samsung Smart TV or blu-ray player?

On the Samsung SmartTV, look for the Crave icon in the ‘Recommended’ section or through Video apps in the SmartHub store. Select the icon to install the app.

What Samsung devices is Crave supported on?

Crave is supported on select Samsung 2014 - 2018 Smart TVs and blu-ray players with Samsung Smart Hub. If the Crave app isn’t already available in your app list, you can find it in the Canadian Samsung Smart Hub.

You will receive an email reminder near the end of your current plan and you can easily update your account to continue enjoying Crave.

You can cancel at any time and enjoy Crave until the end of your subscription period.

Will my gift card expire?

No, unredeemed Crave gift cards do not expire. Unused funds on your gift card do not expire. They will remain on your account until consumed. If the balance on your gift card is too low to redeem for a subscription, we will require you to add another payment instrument to complete the transaction, it can be another gift card, credit or debit card.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes, you can cancel anytime and you will have access to Crave until the end of your subscription period. The balance on your gift card will be retained on your account. There are no cash refunds

Can I get a refund on a Crave Gift Card I redeemed?

The amount on the Gift card redeemed is added in full to your account. It can be redeemed for a subscription to Crave but no cash refunds are possible.

Technical Help and Troubleshooting

Having troubling activating your AppleTV device?

How do I disable private browser viewing?

The following steps indicate how to disable the private browser setting on your device:

  1. Tap the “tabs” button in the bottom right corner (handset) or upper right corner (tablet) of your Mobile browser.

  2. You will now see a “private” button that is white, tap it.

  3. Restart your activation/ sign in process.

  4. You will be able to switch back to private browsing after the activation is complete.

Why am I getting a “video playback error” on my iOS device, Android device or on my Apple TV?

This message may be displayed when you try to watch Crave video content on an iOS, Android, or Apple TV devices that do not have an official release of the OS (operating system) software. Crave only supports official releases. “Jailbroken” devices are not supported.

Does Crave require subscribers to purchase any additional equipment?

Crave will be available as a free app on iOS, Apple TV, Xbox One, and Android devices, computers, Samsung SmartTVs and On Demand via your set-top box.

Will streaming content on Crave use my cellular data plan?

Use of the Crave app on your mobile device via Wi-Fi will count against your Internet data plan when used at home, but not your cellular data plan. If you are using a free Wi-Fi network outside the home, the service will not count to your home Internet data plan or cellular data plan. If you stream content using cellular data, it will count towards your mobile data plan.

Will streaming content on Crave consume my monthly Internet bandwidth allocation?

Watching Crave on any device connected to your home network or Wi-Fi will consume bandwidth, similar to other streaming services.

How much bandwidth will I use while streaming video on Crave?

This will depend on the device you are accessing Crave with.  If on a mobile device, then it can range from 0.2GB to 0.9 GB per hour.  However, on many connected devices (Apple TV, Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV Stick etc.), the range of HD streaming rates are between 0.9GB to 2.6 GB per hour.

Will Crave use my personal information/data?

Crave will never compromise or share personal information received from our customers. Any tracking for measurement purposes is done at an aggregate level and not at an individual one.

What are the system requirements to access Crave from my computer?

For the best video viewing experience you should have a high speed Internet connection. The speed of your connection will determine the quality of the video, and how quickly your episode will begins playing on your computer.

If you are a Windows user, Crave requires you to have a least Windows 8.1.

Crave operates using commonly accessible web protocols (HTTP, HTTPS) on standard ports for which most firewalls will allow access. If you have custom security in place, it may affect the ability of Crave to properly function. If you have installed a firewall at home, simply accept the request from your firewall asking if it’s okay to access Crave. To make Crave an exception to your computer’s firewall, go to your Internet service provider’s online Help section and follow the instructions. For firewalls at work, you will need to contact your company’s Information Technology department.

Do I need to adjust any web browser security settings on my computer to watch Crave?

When you log in, you are logging in with your TV Service Provider username and password, and because we don't ever see your username or password, to watch Crave, your browser must enable "Third Party Cookies," and must have the ability to use secure connections. Other than that, standard browser settings will work fine.

Users trying to activate a device or sign in using Safari on iOS will need to enable cross-site tracking.

  • Go to your device 'Settings'

Crave will work on the most up-to-date versions of Microsoft Edge, FireFox, Chrome, and Safari.

Do I need to enable cookies in order to watch Crave?

Yes you do. Crave requires third-party cookies in order to confirm your subscription through a third-party service that validates this with your TV service provider. Crave does not have access to your username and password that is shared with the TV service provider. The information stored in this third-party cookie is a unique identifier that is used by Crave to communicate with this third-party authentication system.

I’m unable to access the sign in page. What should I do?

On the web, the sign in page is available by clicking the “Sign In” button at the top right of the page. In apps, it is accessed through the menu at the top left of the screen. If you continue to experience difficulty, most errors can be cleared by both closing all browser windows or hard-closing the app and then re-starting it.

To hard-close the app on an iOS device, press the Home button twice, then swipe upwards on the app to close it.

On Android, use the Android menu button on the bottom of the screen and swipe the app away to close it.

On Windows 8.1, press the device back arrow button on the bottom of the screen and swipe the app down to close it.

I am getting a “too many devices” error message. How do I manage my devices?

Visit Crave.ca on your computer or open the Crave app on your handset or tablet device. You can de-register devices through the Settings section under “Device Management” on apps and through the ‘Manage Account’ link on Crave.ca.

I’m unable to download or install the application. What should I do?

The app is available through the Canadian Google Play store, the Canadian App Store on iOS and Apple TVs, Xbox One marketplace, Samsung Smart Hub on TVs and Blu Ray players from 2014-2018 and Canadian Amazon store on Fire TV and Fire TV Stick.

Make sure you are in the Canadian version of the stores and you don’t have any controls set up on your account that restrict access to apps with content meant for mature audiences. If you are still having difficulty with downloading the app, please contact Google, Apple Help, Windows Help, Samsung Info or Amazon for further assistance.

I am in Canada but Crave says that I am outside Canada. What can I do?

Check that your browser has a working Internet connection by browsing a website that you frequently use. I do not see a device activation code, what should I do?

If you do not see a device activation code, please select the 'Cancel' button and try again.

How do I update my iTunes billing information?

How do I stop being billed through iTunes and start being billed through Crave?

You will need to use iTunes to cancel iTunes billing for your Crave account and restart your membership from the subscribe page on the Crave website.

When I try to watch a program, the video keeps skipping, stopping, or giving me an error message. Why is this happening?

All video in Crave is tested before it is released into production so the most common cause of skipping in video is the condition of your Internet connection.

However, if you have watched multiple videos and only experienced problems with one, please contact help@crave.ca or call us at 1-888-CRAVE88 (1-888-272-8388). If you get an error message, please report it to us, providing as much information as possible so that we can resolve the problem.

Some Android devices experience skipping or stopping playback. To correct this, go to ‘Settings’ and turn on ‘Software Playback’. This should fix the problem.

I’ve downloaded the app but it won’t open or it keeps crashing. What should I do?

There may be something wrong with the installation on your device. Please uninstall the app completely, then install it again. If you continue to experience difficulty, please contact help@crave.ca or call us at 1-888-CRAVE88 (1-888-272-8388).

How can I give Crave as a gift?

You can give Crave as a gift by purchasing a gift card at Loblaws locations across Canada or an electronic gift card online at Crave.ca/gift with a valid payment card. We will email electronic gift cards to the recipient at the email address you provide us. You must be a Canadian resident to redeem a gift card. Crave Gift cards cannot be applied towards Crave subscriptions purchased from a TV provider or via iTunes.

Where can I purchase a Crave gift card?

Crave gift cards are available at Loblaws locations across Canada. Additional vendors may be added at a later date. You can also purchase electronic gift cards online at Crave.ca/gift.

Do I need to have a Crave subscriber account to purchase a gift card?

No, you do not need to be a current subscriber to purchase a Crave gift card. However, you will need to set up, or have an existing, Crave account to redeem a gift card.

Can I get a refund on a Crave gift card or exchange for cash value?

No, a Crave gift card can be redeemed for full face value, which will be added to the recipient’s Crave account for a subscription and will be applied to the subscription fees for Crave and applicable taxes. Crave gift cards cannot be transferred for value, redeemed, exchanged or refunded for cash, except where required by law. You can cancel at any time and enjoy Crave until the end of your subscription period.

Will my gift card expire?

No, unredeemed Crave gift cards do not expire. Unused funds on your gift card do not expire. They will remain on your account until the value is exhausted through a subscription to Crave. If the balance on your gift card is too low to redeem for a subscription, we will require you to add another payment instrument to complete the transaction, except where required by law. The payment instrument can be another gift card, credit or debit card.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes, you can cancel anytime and you will have access to Crave until the end of your subscription period. Any unused funds on your gift card will remain on your account until the value is exhausted through a subscription to Crave. No cash refunds are possible for unused funds on the card, except where required by law.

Can I get a refund on a Crave gift card I redeemed?

No, the value of the gift card redeemed is added in full to your account. It can be redeemed for a subscription to Crave plus applicable taxes, but no cash refunds are possible, except where required by law.

Redeeming 3, 6 and 12 month Gift Subscriptions

I have a 3, 6, or 12 month Crave gift code that I haven’t redeemed yet. Will it still work?

Yes, you can still redeem this gift code, but only towards a Crave subscription (excluding any add-on offering), which was available at the time of purchase of the gift subscription. If you’d like to access an add-on, you will need to add it to your subscription for an additional charge.

Can I still purchase a 3, 6 or 12 month Crave gift subscription?

No, Crave no longer offers 3, 6 and 12 month gift subscriptions.
